Erin Hurson
Erin Hurson was born in Queens, New York and has worked in the visual arts industry for over ten years. She discovered her passion for photography in high school at the age of fourteen. While attending Adelphi University, her creative interests expanded to film and video making. Her photography background influenced her approach to moving image production and Erin fused these two sensibilities into creating “moving stills.” Her works largely explored the realms of experimental filmmaking. Screenings of her films and videos were held at Adelphi University, New York Institute of Technology and October Films.

After graduation, Erin became a photography archivist for the Man Ray Estate in Long Island, New York and assisted curators from MOMA and Centre Pompidou. During this time, she also freelanced at Hybrid Films in New York City where she worked on documentary projects for Court TV, BBC, and A&E Television.

Thereafter, Erin was employed by Adelphi University as Technical Manager and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Communications. During her free time, she volunteered as an instructor for Say It! Sing It! Shout It!, a media arts program for at risk children from the Lower East Side Manhattan. While working full time, she received her M.A in Studio Art with a photography concentration. Her thesis works were exhibited in several shows throughout Garden City and Huntington, New York.

In 2008, Erin started UCLA's Film & Television graduate program where she studied cinematography and developed her craft as an image-maker. She later incorporated her industry skills to pursue her earlier passion for independent media art and photography. During this time, Erin traveled extensively throughout California capturing images of Los Angeles, The Mojave Desert, San Francisco, The Sierra Nevada and many other regions throughout the state. Erin currently resides in New York where she continues to establish herself within the visual arts community.
